[交流] 国外博后申请的同志们进来交流下---在挫折中成长已有17人参与

本人今年7月毕业，学的是量子化学or计算化学，目前出来的第一作者文章7篇，3篇Inorg chem，3篇J Phys Chem A和一篇New J Chem（第一作者的文章有11篇，外加一篇合作的实验方面的Cryst Grouth & Design），现在开始申请博后。

昨天投了25份简历（前期找的一些），当天6位回复没有位置。

其他的不知道希望有多少。目前正在焦急的等待。

有位老师给我的建议是去USA，有多方原因。其中一个很重要的就是语言能力的锻炼。

现在好迷茫，虽然有两个国外教授的推荐。但恐怕自己申请的时间太迟，好多职位已经被占据了。

昨天半夜我醒来，无法入睡，不知道大家的压力大不大。
在此将持续报告我内心的煎熬。望各位同仁相互沟通，共勉。

今天给Roald Hoffmann（Nobel Prizer）发邮件，虽然他回复没有位置，但他给了个建议。
原文如下：
Dear Mr. Zhang,
I regret that I do not have a postdoctoral position available for you in my group. I wish you well in finding one elsewhere.

PS Since I sense that you are not familiar with the process, may I give you some advice on applications for post doc positions? This is a nontrivial process, and to be effective does not consist of just putting your qualifications in front of a person.
Such applications should be sent with out some "personalization", meaning some statement, just a few lines, as to why you want to work with a certain person, revealing some knowledge of their research, which you might get by having read a paper of theirs. The use of statements such as 揑 am very interested in your work�, or 揧our excellent work has attracted my attention�, with no mention of specific work come across as polite phrases with no content. Applications which do not contain such a specific approach are likely to be automatically rejected or ignored by almost everyone in the US, because it looks like you are just sending a form letter, with no special interest in a given group. People have many, many postdoc applicants -- they want to see that a person really wants to work with them and a reason why. It takes work to do this, I know.

看来策略需要转移。当初适用海选的方式不太合适。如他所言：需要人性化，了解老板的情况，列举自己的选择的原因，使得prof感兴趣。

海选居然有个老板就向推荐人要推荐信了。

Colorado State University的一个老板。
我查了下，这个老板多个postdoc 是中国人，其学校排名在全美120
化学在45.
如果有那位知道这个学校的或听说过的给些意见。
在ACS的数据库里查了下：
09年3篇J Pyhs Chem A 和一片J Am Chem Soc （一共14篇，部分没有inpress）
08年3篇J Am Chem Soc和2篇J Pyhs Chem A（一共8篇）
07年2篇J Phys Chem A（一共8篇）
91年一篇chem Rew
从65年至今263篇文章多Chem Phys Let 或J Chem Pyhs
