In figure 4, PL spectra show a main band accompanied by a shoulder for bisbenzimidazoles 4b and 4h, which also exhibit the lowest fluorescence quantum yield. Authors pointed out the role of bromine atom favoring intersystem crossing.\ Reviewer also thinks that this study also reveals that torsional relaxation (due to the bromine substituents) to twisted state competes with radiative transitions and leads to fluorescence quenching. Reference that could be included or other. |
