Reviewer #2: Article titled as; "Microwave-assisted preparation, characterization and photocatalytic properties of a dumbbell-shaped ZnO photocatalyst", presents the decolourization and TOC removal efficiencies of Methylene Blue with synthesized dumbbell shaped ZnO photocatalyst, only in comparison to the commercial ZnO powder. There are hundreds of such studies in literature. In order to be able to present a novelty of synthesized dumbbell shaped ZnO photocatalyst, authors should conduct a comparable work on photodegradation capabilities with nanostructured ZnO photocatalysts. For such an investigation authors have to analyse previous photodegradation studies with nanostructured ZnO (for example; C. Ye, et al., J. Phys. Chem. B 110, 15146-15151 (2006); M.L. Curri, et al., Mater. Sci. Eng. C 2003, 23, 285-289; A.J. Hoffman, et al., Environ. Sci. Technol. 1994, 28, 776-785; E.R. Carraway, et al., Environ. Sci. Technol. 1994, 28, 786-793;...).
