Reviewer #2: Article titled as; "Microwave-assisted preparation, characterization and photocatalytic properties of a dumbbell-shaped ZnO photocatalyst", presents the decolourization and TOC removal efficiencies of Methylene Blue with synthesized dumbbell shaped ZnO photocatalyst, only in comparison to the commercial ZnO powder. There are hundreds of such studies in literature. In order to be able to present a novelty of synthesized dumbbell shaped ZnO photocatalyst, authors should conduct a comparable work on photodegradation capabilities with nanostructured ZnO photocatalysts. For such an investigation  authors have to analyse previous photodegradation studies with nanostructured ZnO (for example; C. Ye, et al., J. Phys. Chem. B 110, 15146-15151 (2006); M.L. Curri, et al.,  Mater. Sci. Eng. C 2003, 23, 285-289; A.J. Hoffman, et al., Environ. Sci. Technol. 1994, 28, 776-785; E.R. Carraway, et al.,  Environ. Sci. Technol. 1994, 28, 786-793;...). Article has to be re-examined

我文章中已经研究了光催化性,并和商业的ZnO做了对比,不知审稿人要怎么“should conduct a comparable work on photodegradation capabilities with nanostructured ZnO photocatalysts”。

以我之见,楼主应该对ZnO粉体的光降解能力方面做些相关工作,毕竟是应用嘛,这样才能表现文章的新颖之处!!
