10月份的时候联系一个老师想去做薄厚，回复如下： I have new research funding coming in before the end of the year. Exactly when the funds will come, I do not know. The research project is on coding and detection for magnetic recording. Given your background in coding, you have relevant expertise. If you’re interested to expand your expertise and apply coding/decoding to data storage, I’ll contact you again at a later date when my new research funds come in. 我的回信： Thanks for your consideration! The research project is interesting. If there is a chance, i am very glad to join your group. 收到回信：I'm glad to hear that. I'll be in touch with you in due course. 现在已经过去1个多月了，也快到年底了 我是不是应该问问这个老师具体情况如何？怎么问比较合适? 经过小木虫友们的建议，我给老师写了封信： I am ** from ** University, China. I have passed the oral defense for my Ph.D. thesis last Friday. I want to know the state of the new research funding in your group, and if there is a chance, what should i be prepared to. 一周后，收到老师回信如下： Regarding your question, there have unfortunately been delays from the funding agency. I have been informed that I am likely to receive my new research funding in Jan 2010. Only when that money comes in can I put up an invitation for suitably qualified candidates to apply for a research fellowship under my grant. I’ll contact you again when that time comes. |
