Precision Genome Editing and Gene Therapy
Genome Editing Group, Department of Cell and Chemical Biology, Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), Leiden University, The Netherlands https://ccb.lumc.nl/about-the-goncalves-lab-135

Join our research programme
The Genome Editing Group at the LUMC is seeking an outstanding, ambitious and highly motivated MSc graduate to join our laboratory as a ¡°CSC-funded PhD candidate¡±.
Our research aims to advance the next generation of precision genome editing technologies and translate these innovations into therapies for inherited human diseases. By combining molecular biology, CRISPR engineering, and advanced viral vector technologies, we seek to develop safer, more precise and more effective genetic medicines.

About the laboratory
The Genome editing group investigates the molecular mechanisms governing precise genome modification and develops innovative genome engineering platforms with translational potential. Our work brings together expertise in genome editing, DNA repair, chromatin biology and gene delivery. Our laboratory has a strong track record of mentoring young scientists. Lab Alumni have received prestigious national awards for outstanding PhD research, published in leading journals and progressed to successful careers in academia and the biotechnology sectors.

Current research themes include:
Engineering of advanced adenoviral vectors and gene-editing tool delivery systems; Next-generation CRISPR technologies (e.g., prime editing); Epigenetic and DNA repair pathways controlling genome editing outcomes.
