Optics Express接受，是否可以减免版费？已有8人参与

Optics Express终于接受了。7页纸，1585美元，都是审稿人惹的祸，6页只要925美元。老板也嫌太贵了，希望能减半。虫子们有没有成功申请减免的？请指教！ 缴费完了以后我会在道贺版发金币，今天先来11个. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 11号发了信去询问： Dear Managing Editor: Thanks very much for your accepting to publish our paper (ID: XXXXXX) in Optics Express. May you give me a half waiver of the publication charges? As the publication charge ($1585) is too expensive for us to pay, though this work has been financially supported from some departments of Chinese government. We also have tried our best to compress the paper to a least length of 7 pages before submitting the revised manuscript, on the basis of a clear expression. We highly appreciate you if you consider a discount publication charges to us. Best wishes, Authors: ...... ------------------------------------------------------- 没有回音，15号又问： Dear Editor: Thank you for your email dated 11/11/2009 that inform us the payment of the publication charges ($1585.00). Being short of money, we've send a email to you for a half waiver of publication fees on 11/11/2009. We don't know if you have received that email, because we have not got a reply from you and we received another payment reminder yestoday. We hope to pay the publication fees ASAP. But would you please give us a discount since we are lack of research funds recently, and it is our first time to send our work to publish in Optics Express. Please also consider our efforts that make our paper appears with a shortest length of 7 pages. Thank you very much. I will let you know his decision as soon as he notifies me. I'm sorry to trouble you again, but I am wondering if the Editor-in-Chief has made a decision on our request? Best regards, ------------------------------------------------------------ 回答说： Dr. Li, The Editor-in-Chief was are unable to waive the publication fee for the paper entitled "........................" There are real costs associated with the production of the journal, and these are not offset by library subscription payments in the case of Optics Express. We rely on the mandatory publication fees to cover the costs of the journal as the fees are the only source of income for the journal. This financial model allows Optics Express to have a wide circulation because it is accessible freely on the Internet. When the authors submitted the paper to Optics Express, they agreed to pay the mandatory publication fee. We regret we are not able to give you a more positive response.
