about us:  
the **exeter small-scale robotics laboratory** is internationally recognised for pioneering research at the intersection of **nonlinear dynamics**, **control engineering**, and **medical robotics**. we develop intelligent **micro- and milli-robotic systems** for diagnostic and therapeutic applications, with a particular focus on the **gastrointestinal and cardiovascular systems**.

our research spans theoretical modelling, simulation, prototyping, and experimental validation in both in vitro and advanced laboratory environments.

research themes:
- self-propelled robotic capsules for gastrointestinal diagnostics  
- ai-driven lesion detection using dynamic sensing  
- magnetic micro-robots for targeted therapy  
- biomechanics and modelling of the gastrointestinal tract  
- nonlinear dynamics and multistability control in small-scale robots  
- non-smooth dynamical systems and impact mechanics

candidate profile:
- phd holders (or expected by september 2025)  
- background in robotics, control, biomedical engineering, ai, or nonlinear dynamics  
- strong academic record and publication history  
- eligible for msca mobility rules (must not have lived or worked in the uk for more than 12 months in the past 3 years)

key dates:
- call opens: 10 april 2025  
- expression of interest deadline: **23 june 2025**  
- msca submission deadline: 11 september 2025
