PhD Studentships in Metallic Materials at HK-PolyU

Prof. XS Yang is an Associate Professor and PhD Supervisor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). His research group focuses on a broad range of topics in materials science and engineering, such as laser processing and additive manufacturing, Nanostructured metallic materials: microstructure and mechanical behavior, Tribology: friction, wear, and corrosion, Hydrogen embrittlement and hydrogen storage behavior in metals, in-situ characterization via SEM/TEM, and computational modeling and simulation of materials, etc,. Prof. Yang has published over 120 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals such as Acta Mater., Nano Lett., JMPS, IJP, and Scr. Mater. We are currently seeking highly motivated students to pursue a PhD in areas related to metallic materials. Candidates with experience or a strong interest in microstructural characterization (e.g., in-situ SEM/TEM), machine learning, or computational modeling are especially encouraged to apply.
