陶澄澄博士是普渡大学建造管理技术系的助理教授,博士毕业于佛罗里达大学土木工程系,再加入普渡大学之前,陶博士曾在美国能源部国家能源技术实验室 (NETL) 担任ORISE 博士后研究员。陶博士的研究兴趣包括多功能基础设施材料、可持续建筑材料和制造、非牛顿流体(例如油井水泥浆、新拌水泥混凝土、液态环氧树脂等)的流变学与计算流体动力学、多目标优化算法和机器学习在工程中的应用、基础设施韧性。陶博士研究项目获得美国国家科学基金会 (NSF)、美国交通部 (USDOT)、美国混凝土协会 (ACI)、美国化学学会 (ACS)、美国国家科学、工程和医学院 (NASEM)、伊利诺伊州-印第安纳州海洋基金(IISG)、印第安纳交通部、能源部- 国家能源技术实验室(DOE-NETL)资助。陶博士被选为美国国家科学工程和医学院 (NASEM-GRP) – 青年研究员(2023-2025),并获得美国化学学会 - 石油研究基金 (ACS-PRF) - 2023 年青年研究员奖、2023-2024 年度普渡大学理工学院杰出教师科研奖、2023-2024 年和 2022-2023 年普渡大学建造管理技术系杰出教师科研奖、2022 年伊利诺伊州-印第安纳州海洋基金教师学者奖以及 2018-2021 年 美国能源部国家能源技术实验室ORISE 博后奖学金。

Ph.D. research assistant and postdoc positions with full financial support are available (starting from Fall 2025/Spring 2026/Fall 2026) in the School of Construction Management Technology at Purdue University. The admitted students are expected to work with Dr. Chengcheng Tao tao133@purdue.edu.

Research Area:
Molecular dynamics, multi-scale modeling of materials, computational mechanics
Computational fluid dynamics, rheology of non-Newtonian fluids, multi-phase flow, thermodynamics modeling
Fluid-structure interaction modeling in infrastructure resilience to natural hazards (wind, flood, etc.)
Multi-functional materials and sustainable construction materials and manufacturing process
Multi-objective optimization and machine learning applications in infrastructure materials and resilience

Ph.D. Student Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering, Material Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering or other closely related fields
Strong background in mathematics/mechanics, solid programming skills
Students with publication records/research experience are preferred
Good oral and written communication skills and strong self-motivation
English requirement: TOEFL 80 (Writing:18, Speaking:18, Listening:14, Reading:19) / IELTS 6.5 (Reading: 6.5, Listening: 6, Speaking: 6, Writing: 5.5) / Duolingo:115 and 115 on each subscore

Dr. Chengcheng Tao (https://polytechnic.purdue.edu/profile/tao133) is an assistant professor in the School of Construction Management Technology at Purdue University. Dr. Tao earned her Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from the University of Florida. Prior to joining Purdue, Dr. Tao worked as an ORISE postdoctoral research fellow at DOE National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). Dr. Tao’s research interests include multi-functional infrastructure materials, sustainable construction materials and manufacturing, rheology of non-Newtonian fluids (e.g., oilwell cement slurries, fresh concrete, liquid epoxy, etc.) with computational fluid dynamics (CFD), multi-objective optimization and machine learning applications, hazard-resilient infrastructure, and computational mechanics of materials. Dr. Tao led/co-led research projects funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), American Concrete Institute (ACI), American Chemical Society (ACS), National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine - Gulf Research Program (NASEM-GRP), Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant (IISG), Indiana Department of Transportation, USDOT-UTC-TRANS-IPIC, Department of Energy (DOE) - National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), Purdue Polytechnic Holistic Safety and Security (HSS) research impact area, Purdue Institute for a Sustainable Future (ISF), and Purdue Discovery Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Research Internship (DUIRI) program. Dr. Tao was selected as the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine - Gulf Research Program (NASEM-GRP) - Early-Career Research Fellow in the Offshore Energy Safety track (2023-2025) and received the American Chemical Society - Petroleum Research Fund (ACS-PRF) - Doctoral New Investigator Award in 2023, Polytechnic Institute Outstanding Faculty in Discovery Award in 2024, SCMT Outstanding Faculty in Discovery Award at Purdue University in 2024 & 2023, the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant Faculty Scholars Award in 2022, and the ORISE Postdoctoral Fellowship at DOE-NETL in 2018-2021.
