We have examined your manuscript and conclude that it does not warrant consideration as a Rapid Communication. The Rapid Communications section is devoted to the publication of especially important new results; the acceptance criteria are similar to those for Physical Review Letters, differing only in the level of accessibility to a general readership. In addition, we are concerned that while your manuscript addresses a topic of some interest to our community, as written, it seems much more appropriate for submission to a journal with more emphasis on material science. While we appreciate that the definition of materials physics and materials science is somewhat subjective, we believe that there is not enough emphasis on the physics here for our journal. We will continue with the editorial processing of your manuscript as soon as we receive your response or revised manuscript.
