605-688-6714 Xiaoyang.Zhang@sdstate.edu 02/08/2023 Subject: Ph.D. Student Opportunities in Geospatial Science Center of Excellence and Department of Geography at South Dakota State University (Fall 2023) The Geospatial Science Center of Excellence (GSCE) at South Dakota State University (SDSU) is seeking a Ph.D. student (as a research assistant) in fall 2023. The research topic could be: (1) to investigate wildfire biomass burning emissions using observations from polar-orbiting and geostationary satellites, or (2) to develop a new geospatial tool for land surface phenology detections from multiple satellite observations. The assistantship provides a competitive stipend, a full tuition waiver, and health benefits. Applicants must have completed an M.S. in a relevant subject. Demonstrated aptitude for independent research, and quantitative and computational skills, are required. This position will start in 2023 Fall Semester. The GSCE is a joint venture linking South Dakota State University (SDSU) with the United States Geological Survey's Center for Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS). Remote Sensing at SDSU is ranked as #4 in the United States according to 2021 SHANGHAI RANKING.
