| The organic carbon graphite microstructure is an intriguing nano-hole system. Moreover, boundaries of unsaturated carbon atoms and structural defects have strong reactivity. In the activated carbon activation process, chemical bonds form in the raw material in oxygen, hydrogen, and boundary, yielding the activated carbon surface functional groups of various organic forms of oxides and hydrocarbon compounds, such as carboxyl, anhydride, hydroxyl, carbonyl, and quinone-based. These groups lead to activated carbon with a chemical adsorption and catalytic oxidation, reduction of performance, which can effectively remove heavy metal ions in wastewater. |
