(UTA)Postdoc Position in Computational Materials Science and Fluid Dynamics
|
|
Dr. Ye Cao’s research group in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) has one Postdoc Position Opening starting in Fall 2022. Dr. Cao’s group is broadly interested in multiscale modeling in understanding materials structural and property relationships, and designing new materials and structures. The research project of this opening is to understand the stability and kinetics of fluid that flows in a porous media. The student will work on developing an integrated computational fluid dynamics and phase-field model, and performing computational simulations on the oil-water separation and its stability under flow conditions in porous media. He or she will also work closely with experts in materials synthesis and characterization. Dr. Cao joined MSE at UTA as an Assistant Professor in 2017. Before that, he worked as a postdoc at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University. Preferred Qualification: A Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, or related disciplines; A strong motivation in research and a strong commitment to hard work; Expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics is required. Knowledge and experience in computational materials science is preferred. About UTA: The University of Texas at Arlington is a public research university in the University of Texas system. The university is one of the eight universities in Texas, which are classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity” based on Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. UTA is ranked 80th in Best Engineering School, and 80th in Materials Science and Engineering Program based on the U.S. News & World Report (2021). UTA is located in Arlington, a city in the Dallas − Fort Worth (DFW) metropolitan area. It is the largest metropolitan area in Texas and the 4th largest in US. Many big companies, such as AT&T, Texas Instrument, ExxonMobil etc. are located in DFW area, and many more are moving to this area, offering numerous job opportunities. It also features a relatively lower living cost compared to the east and west coast. There is nonstop flight from DFW international airport to many major cities in the world, including Beijing and Shanghai in China. All these making DFW area an ideal place for studying, living and working. If you are interested in joining, please contact Dr. Ye Cao (ye.cao@uta.edu) with detailed CV, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and a list of publications. |
