overview

dr. jingjie hu's group in the department of mechanical and aerospace engineering at nc state has openings for two fully funded ph.d. positions in the areas of mechanics of materials and biomaterials. research in the group focuses on the mechanical behaviors of biological and biomedical systems, using both experimental and theoretical approaches (https://jingjiehu.com). selected candidates are expected to start in spring or fall of 2022.

qualification

highly-motivated students with bachelor's or master's degree from all engineering and science backgrounds, especially in mechanical engineering, materials science, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering and physics, are encouraged to apply. research experience in afm, mechanics, characterization, cell culture and biomaterials is desired but not required.

about dr. hu

dr. hu received her ph.d. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from princeton university and her b.s.e in mechanical engineering from university of michigan. before joining nc state, she completed her post-doctoral training in bioengineering at mayo clinic. her work is highly interdisciplinary, and has been published in high impact journals, including advanced materials, advanced science, science translational medicine and acta biomaterialia.
