New Au-based bulk glassy alloys with ultralow glass transition temperature W. Zhanga,  ,  , H. Guob, M.W. Chenc, Y. Saotomea, C.L. Qinc and A. InouecaInstitute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, Sendai 980-8577, Japan bGraduate School, Tohoku University, Sendai 980-8577, Japan cWPI, Advanced Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, Sendai 980-8577, Japan Received 18 May 2009; revised 12 June 2009; accepted 16 June 2009. Available online 21 June 2009. New Au-based glassy alloys with high Au contents of  60–70 at.% have been found to exhibit an ultralow glass transition temperature (66–86 °C), a high glass-forming ability and a wide supercooled liquid region. They also have high thermodynamic and kinetic stability in the supercooled liquid state, strong oxidation resistance, good mechanical properties, very high corrosion resistance and excellent thermoplastic formability.Keywords: Metallic glasses; Casting; Superplasticity; Mechanical properties; Corrosion [ Last edited by hslining on 2009-9-10 at 13:46 ] |
