摘要
New method of filling the porous architecture with biomedical polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) has been proposed to resolve the degradation problem of mechanical property with the increase of porosity of metal foam used for hard tissue implants. TiMoCu/PMMA composite has been produced by immersion of the sintered porous Ti-7Mo-5Cu alloy in the solutions of MMA mixed with initiator AIBN (weight ratio 100:1) and then evacuating to 0.09 MPa for 1 h followed by polymerization at 318 K in air for 24 h. Remarkable increase of compressive strength of TiMoCu/PMMA composite compared with that of porous TiMoCu alloy indicates that it is an effective approach to ameliorate mechanical property of metal foam.
