犹他州立大学全奖PhD(Solid Mechanics/Multiscale Computations)

My research group has 2 openings for Ph.D. students starting from Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Utah State University (USU). The positions are fully funded with a tuition waiver, stipend, and health insurance. The admitted students will work on computational studies of functional materials (energy storage materials & responsive polymers) to (i) elucidate the underlying physics of materials deformation and failure, (ii) design new materials, and (iii) design for manufacturing. The research in my group is built at the intersection of multiscale computations and data-driven modeling (Uncertainty Quantification & machine learning). Candidates with the following conditions are highly encouraged to apply. • Undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher • TOEFL ≥ 100, GRE Verbal/Quantitative ≥70th percentile • Programming experience with MATLAB, C/C++, Fortran or Python While not required, a master's degree focusing on Computations/Mechanics or related major is preferred. About me: I will be a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at USU starting from Aug. 2020. I finished my Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in Dec. 2017 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and then I worked as a Postdoc Research Associate at Duke University. I have published 13 papers in journals like Nano Letters, Nature Communications, and Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics & Engineering. About USU: USU is located in Logan, Utah, which is 1.5 hours' drive from Salt Lake City and surrounded by six national parks. It is also home to the Space Dynamics Lab, a federally sponsored research corporation with an annual research funding of more than $150 million.
