Indeed, a Rho-mediated signalling cascade is crucial for the morphogenetic changes during Drosophila gastrulation, a pathway that involves the exchange factor RhoGEF2 in response to an extracellular signal called folded gastrulation (Fog)61.Considering that, genetically, Fog lies downstream of Snail62, it is tempting to speculate that Rho GTPases might also be indirect targets of Snail in the gastrulating fly. |
