最近有稿件返回大修，其中一个审稿人有几个问题搞不清楚，想在此请教大家，谢谢。

如题。问题如下： 1、The manuscript must be shortened by avoiding 'reading' figures as currently, the authors systematically provide numbers that are already available in Figures. In addition, the 'fold increase' data is not needed because lab-scale values cannot be extrapolated. 2、Figures 1B, 1D and 1F are redundant as the data is already disclosed in 1A, 1C and 1E. The calculation of specific rates based on first order kinetics is biased as growth was clearly not exponential, meaning this data cannot be extrapolated to other systems (i.e. no additional information is provided by disclosing specific rates, as in the case of 'fold-increase'). 3、For Figures 2 and 3: Is there is value in showing kinetics that could be provided in SI? These results may be better presented a final values in column graphs or a Table. Units are missing in Figure 3 Y axis. 4、How were standard errors calculated? Standard deviations have no meaning for small sample size. 5、The Figures are rather large and 'hard' to read. Data could be more efficiently disclosed by, especially, converting Figures 5-7 into a single Table providing the numerical data currently provided in the text. |
