Maier / Dr. Yi Li Number of open positions: 1 Project title: Nanoantenna based Single-Molecule Enzymology for Energy Technology Project description: Photocatalysis holds promising keys to address various energy and environmental challenges. However, most of ensemble studies to date may mask critical photocatalytic kinetics at single nanoantenna level. Individual nanocatalysts represent the elementary photocatalytic platform as shown in the scheme. For this position, we are interested to explore advanced single-molecule devices with photocatalytic mapping technique to understand and control localized photoemission of energetic carriers into chemical environments. The discovery of the intermittent nature of the photocatalysis will provide insights into the fundamental photophysics of hybrid nanomaterials, which can be anticipated to substantially benefit broad application fields such as clean energy, pollution treatment, and chemical synthesis. Language requirements: Applicants should be fluent in English. Academic requirements: Applicants should have a strong knowledge in experimental physics, optical engineering, or electrical/chemical/biomedical engineering (spectroscopy).
