Abstract: Most novels written by Xiao Hong were focusing on women as a object for manifestation. However, she never looked forward to a romantic expectation on the existence of women. Those hardships she had experienced before enable her to insight into the empty and helplessness in life. As a result, most of the woman figures in her novel were lack of clear self-consciousness, and the self-consciousness towards life in particular. Some women figures in her novel even didn¡¯t deserve a name, just struggling like animals between life and death. As a writer, Xiao Hong was keenly interested in depicting death and pointed more to death itself, without the poetry imagination about death commonly exhibited in general writes. Xiao Hong tried to explore the fate of women with her deep inherent inquiry, and unveil the deeper cultural sources of woman¡¯s tragedy. [ Last edited by zhaomei2007 on 2009-4-24 at 15:06 ] |
