（第一段）当发展中国家正在工业化时，污染物聚集（程度）以及衣不蔽体的人数都在逐渐增加；当新的化学物质被应用到我们日常环境中时，我们发现了越来越多的复杂和令人麻烦的影响；当我们越来越细心仔细的监视着生态系统时，我们也变的对由我们自己日常活动对地球上基本的生活结构的影响所带来的威胁越来越警觉。 比较难的是最后一句话：we become more alarmed at the threats our activities have on the very fabric of life on Earth。 具体说明：the very fabric of life 是指日常最基本的生活结构，fabric在这里意思已经发生了转移，原意是指材料的织构，这里引申为生活结构。our activities have on the very fabric of life on Earth这句是对the threats的补充说明。原本句子结构是：our activities have the threats on the very fabric of life on Earth。 |
