I do not agree with "ÀÉìËÜÐÔ²¢²»´ú±íBMGµÄ±¾Õ÷ÐÔÄÜ". In the uniaxial tension testing, BMG samples do not prossess a stabilization mechanism to prevent the propagation of shear bands. The tension properties of BMGs represents their intrinsic properties if they are tested using standard method (if not play with tricks like specimen dimensions, testing rates,....). However, all monolithic BMGs look similar in tensile loading conditions. Without question, mechanical testing, specifically the uniaxial COMPRESSION TEST IS THE SINGLE LARGEST PITFALL OF BMG RESERCH.
BMG research, which is very active in China, needs more experts with the background on mechanics to be involved. It seems to me that some groups from china can do everything. Sometimes, they provide misleading results.That is not good for science.

How to make BMGs with high values of toughness (not necessary to have compressive plasticity :-)) is apparently the most important issue in this community.

Most BMGs have relatively high toughness, see following Ashby Plot [Scr Mater 2006].
Hoever, these BMGs still exhibit macoscopic brittle failure. This is a paradox.
So, fracture toughness is not the key point.
I believe, a more inherent properity should exist, to control plasticity of BMGs.

Most toughness measurements of BMGs are not a valid KIC. Actually, the KIC of BMGs is very low (e.g. KIC of Vit 1 alloy is ~18 MPa m^1/2), you can not compare these with that of polycrystalline materials. Sure, the toughness of BMGs is much better than window glass :-)
Caltech's Nature paper on BMG composites overstated the fracture toughness. Their fracture toughness is not a valid KIC. Therefore, their claim that their BMG composites are better than traditional crystalline materials is totally a "joke" (Caltech group had been reminded on this.)
The facture toughness and fatigue properties are very poor for BMG family. That's why the mechanical properties of BMGs are the most active area in the BMG community.
Sometimes, big guys in the community also provided misleading results. You can not simply follow their heels.

I agree that a true KIC should tie up with the failure behavior.
However, precisely measuring KIC of various BMGs indeed is difficult because of extremely localization flow in these materials, but is necessary.

precise measurement of these properties is not an issue if specimen dimensions meet the testing standard requirement.

Fracture mechanics that does not consider the microstructure is conventional and macroscopic.
Microscopic fracture mechanics and fracture physics must focus on the microstrcutre.
You are wright, the slip line field does not care about "dislocation" or "flow defect ". However, due to shear band, is the slip line field still presented ahead of the crack tip?

For brittle BMGs, even the sample dimensions meet the requirements, you can not run such a KIC measurement because you can not get fatigue precrack for brittle BMGs.
