I am working with single molecule detection of ribosome conformational dynamics during protein synthesis.  My website can be found in the faculty at  http://www.bchs.uh.edu/  The key words are TIRF microscopy, single molecule detection, FRET and protein biosynthesis.

Basically, I wish to have one postdoc to set up the in vitro protein synthesis system together with me.  I am the expert in this field, so the postdoc will have a very well defined plan to follow.  I know exactly what I want to do.

I need the person to have basic biological and biochemistry skills like, cell culture, site direct mutagenesis, protien purification.  New skills can always be developed. So, as long as he/she is a good person with serious committment to science, previous experience is not essential at all.  Ph.D degree is required, though.

What I am doing is truelly inter-disciplinary and the new trend of research. It is challenging but also exiciting.  The person join my group will have the chance to learn the state-of-art technology as well as extensive training of biochemistry, biology, physics and spectroscopy.  It is a good learning oppotunity.

I would also appreciate you  to encourage your students to apply for our Ph.D program.  I will be happy to help them get admitted at certain point.
