Ph.D. positions at University of California Merced -------------------------------------------------- Dr. Florin Rusu has Ph.D. positions available in the School of Engineering at UC Merced. Dr. Rusu's research interests lie in the area of databases and large scale data management in general, with a particular focus on designing and building infrastructure for Big Data analytics. Specific topics include approximate query processing, parallel online aggregation, and scalable machine learning. Scientific data processing as another facet of Big Data receives considerable attention in his research through topics such as multi-dimensional array data management and in-situ data processing. You can find more details about his projects and publications at: "http://faculty.ucmerced.edu/frusu/" Candidates should have a degree in Computer Science (Bachelor and/or Master) and good communication skills in English (GRE and TOEFL scores). We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a deep algorithmic understanding, excellent programming skills (C/C++ under Linux), and desire to develop practical systems.
