Postgraduate Scholarship in structure-property relationships in diluted magnetic semiconductors

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for an enthusiastic candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in diluted magnetic semiconductors. Just like silicon in the microelectronics, diluted magnetic semiconductors are believed to the material base for the next generation electronics  spintronics, which exploits the intrinsic spin of electrons, in addition to its fundamental electronic charge, in solid-state devices. The project addresses a major obstacle on way to spintronics by investigating the microscopic origin of the interesting properties in diluted magnetic semiconductors using advanced microscopy and microanalysis.
The applicant should have a Master or Bachelor degree in science or engineering. Experience in microscopy and microanalysis would be an advantage.
