China The Visual Computing Group of Microsoft Research Asia, Beijing, China, has two immediate openings for Researcher/Associate Researcher/Postdoc in the areas o f pattern recognition, computer vision, Image/graphics processing, and applied machine learning. Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. or MS in CS, EE or related fields with a strong publication record in major journals and conferences. Candidates nee d to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, be able to work independently on problems, be an effective team player and be willing to accept challenges and responsibility. About Microsoft Research Asia Founded in 1991, Microsoft Research (MSR) is dedicated to conducting both basi c and applied research in computer science and software engineering. Its goal is to develop new technologies that simplify and enhance the computing experie nce, reduce the cost of writing and maintaining software, and facilitate the c reation of new types of software. Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA), formerly known as Microsoft Research China, wa s founded in November of 1998. Located in Beijing, China, it is Microsoft’s second fundamental research facility to be established outside of the United S tates. Key research areas include digital media, user interfaces, networking a nd system, graphics and vision as well as information search and mining. One h undred and eighty researchers, under the leadership of Dr Harry Shum, Managing Director, work at MSRA’s laboratories.
