Opportunity for Graduate Assistantship in Complex Systems Engineering and Design Research at University of Arkansas Graduate assistantship is available for Ph.D. students in Dr. Zhenghui Sha’s research lab (https://sidilab.wordpress.com) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Arkansas (http://www.uark.edu) starting from Fall 2017 or Spring 2018. Highly qualified and motivated students who have research interests in complex systems and data-driven design research are encouraged to apply. Please email Dr. Sha at zsha@uark.edu for more details. Dr. Zhenghui Sha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Arkansas. Before that, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University. He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University, and M.S. from Xi’an Jiaotong University, and B. Eng. from Xi’an University of Technology, all in Mechanical Engineering. He also received graduate minor in Applied Statistics from Purdue and undergraduate minor in Computer Science. His research interests lie in engineering systems design, with particular emphasis on building the decision-centric science foundations to facilitate the integration in complex systems and amplify the data-driven power in engineering design research. Dr. Sha is the recipient of the NSF CMMI Conference Fellowship (2012), the ASME Robert E. Fulton Best Paper Award (2013), and the Global Campus Open Education Resources Award. Founded in 1871, the University of Arkansas is the flagship of the University of Arkansas System. The Carnegie Foundation classifies the university as having "the highest possible level of research" for the Advancement of Teaching and has research expenditures of $133.7 million, placing it among the top 2 percent of colleges and universities nationwide in the U.S. The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers BS, MS and PhD programs serving approximately 600 students in total. The faculty produces over 100 publications per year with annual research expenditures are approximately $2.2 million. Located in the stunning Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas, Fayetteville is home to the University of Arkansas campus, known for its spectacular views and ample green spaces. Fayetteville is one of the country’s finest college towns, and the surrounding northwest Arkansas region is regularly ranked one of the best places to live in the U.S. – ranked #5 in 2017 U.S. News Best Places to Live Rankings. Some of the nation’s best outdoor amenities and most spectacular king trails are within a short drive of campus. |
