PhD Opportunities in Materials Science and Engineering at Monash University in Melbourne, AUSTRALIA High Strength 6xxx Series AluminiumAlloy Sheet for Automotive Structures The demand for high strength aluminiumautomotive sheet is increasing for structural applications such as A and B pillars, chassis, frames and crash systems. Since these applications require higher specific strengths than body sheet, more highly alloyed 6xxx series Al-Mg-Si(-Cu) alloys have been identified as offering an attractive combination of properties. Through a combination of experimental and modellingwork, this project will focus on alloy and process design to achieve both high strength and adequate formability.
