Iron oxyhydroxides (FeOOH), with α-, β-, and γ-phases, are among the most common constituents of the Earth's crust. They play a crucial role in regulating the mobility of phos?phates in natural aquatic and soil environments, as phos?phate ions can be strongly bound to the surface of FeOOH.
