Under excitation with 365 nm near ultraviolet light, there is an increased blue-green light emission from Eu2+ at 400-550nm wavelengths, which is due to Eu3+ reduction by Al into Eu2+. As the content of Al increases, the absorption spectrum had noticeable changes. At lower Al contents, the absorption spectrum was mainly at 280 nm as a result from charge migration. Increased Al content led to another new peak absorption around 320-400 nm, which increased proportionally as the Eu2+ amount increases. We assign this to .Eu2+:4f65d→4f7  allowable dipole transition.
