The Er3+ cations are equally distributed at the tetrahedral interstitial site. Due to the heavily doped Pb2+, which introduced high field and high polarization into the site, the [SiO4] and [AlO4] tetrahedra are consequently deformed or even start to break. That effect leads to he congregation of Er3+ at the site resulting in cross-relaxation and fluorescence quenching. The entirely process explains the enhancement of the red light conversion and the reduction of light emitting efficiency at Er3+. |
