Special issue invitation for Neural Plasticity (Impact factor = 3.582 for 2015)

Dear colleague:

In collaboration with Neural Plasticity (Impact factor = 3.582 for 2015), we are organizing a special issue titled "Addiction in Adolescent: From Substance to Behavior”, hosted by Dahua Yu, Kai Yuan, Karen M. von Deneen, Guangyu Zhou and Mathieu Bourguignon.

As guest editors, we would like to invite you to contribute your valuable work to this special issue. Please find more information about this special issue below as well as in the link:

Call for Papers "Addiction in Adolescent: From Substance to Behavior”

The period from adolescence to adulthood is the most important step of brain maturation during which period the nervous system is relatively labile. The brain of adolescent is undergoing a series of significant neurobiological changes, which may especially be sensitive to outside influences and induce plasticity of nervous system. It may be especially sensitive to experience-induced plasticity, such as nicotine exposure through cigarettes or pathological use of Internet gaming. As the easiest addictive substance to obtain, cigarette smoking is used by about 50% of young men and 10% of young women in the world. Internet gaming disorder (IGD) is another common mental health problem among adolescents, which has been identified as a condition warranting more clinical research to provide mechanistic insights into its etiology and treatment in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). Smoking and IGD initiation has been proved to be most likely to occur during adolescence by previous studies. It is noteworthy that a lot of adolescents enjoy cigarettes when they play Internet gaming. It provides a model to investigate the relationship between substance addiction and behavior addiction in adolescents, which may improve our understanding of addiction in adolescents.

Thus, the purpose of this special issue is to improve our understanding of the relationship between substance addiction and behavior addiction in adolescent. We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the cellular and molecular mechanism, and neural plasticity mechanism, and their interactive relationship in substance addiction and behavior addiction.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

The interactive relationship between substance addiction and behavior addiction in adolescent
The cellular and molecular mechanism and neural plasticity mechanism of substance addiction and behavior addiction in both humans and animal models
Brain maturation influenced by substance addiction and behavior addiction
Authors can submit their manuscripts via the Manuscript Tracking System at https://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/np/abnp/.

Manuscript Due        Friday, 26 August 2016
First Round of Reviews, Friday, 18 November 2016
Publication Date, Friday, 13 January 2017

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thanks a lot.
