In figure 4 your text refers to a 31-year running mean. Why did you select this odd number for smoothing the series? Again, with reference to your correlations listed on L122-123, are they specifically related to the raw data or are the correlations between the smoothed series. If so have you accounted for serial correlation and the reduction in degrees of freedom brought about by correlating smoothed series?
