We used CD spectroscopy to study the conformational changes of DNA after a complex formation with melamine. According to the literature, the positive peak corresponds to the DNA base stacking interactions, while the negative peak corresponds to the double helix structures in DNA. As shown in Fig. 3, the black dot line represents the CD spectrum of DNA alone, while the red solid line represents the spectrum after the addition of melamine. There was an apparent rise in the negative peak after the addition of melamine to the DNA, which indicates that after a complex formation with melamine, DNA forms a structure that resembles a double helix. |
