POSITIONS: PhD/Master positions (RA or TA) are available for Fall 2016/Spring 2017 at the Tennessee Technological University within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Highly motivated individuals are sought to work on multidisciplinary research in the areas of dynamic systems and control, engine combustion and emissions, automotive powertrain control, and alternative/renewable fuels. Background in dynamic systems and control with automotive applications is strongly desired. Master¡¯s degree is preferred for PhD applicants, but not necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, other general admission requirements (TOEFL, GRE. GPA).

The future research in Dr. Chen's group will focus on modeling, estimation, fault detection and isolation, control, and optimization of dynamic systems including hybrid and electric powertrain, automotive engines, advanced aftertreatment systems, and automotive air conditioning system, advanced combustion mode control, engine combustion with alternative/renewable fuels, vehicle dynamics and control, intelligent transportation system, and nonlinear control theory.
