Open PhD Positions

The below vacancies are currently available throughout Europe as part of the EXCILIGHT project. Note that formal eligibility criteria apply and that applicants can not apply for a position in their country of current residence (defined as where they have resided for more than twelve months in the last three years - see full details at bottom of page).

ESR13. Formation of exciplex based OLEDs on flexible substrates and scale up of the devices

The PhD student will optimise the OLED structure and layer properties in order to increase the uniformity, durability and efficiency. To develop OLEDs in flexible and rigid substrates. To develop encapsulation techniques for protection. To train the ESR in deposition techniques required for OLED production.

Requirements: M.Sc. in Chemical or Physical Sciences or equivalent graduation. Proof of English proficiency as communication and teaching language throughout EXCILIGHT is English (e.g. TOEFL or similar test, not for native speakers).

PhD Studies will be held at the University of Aveiro

Start date (planned): 1 March 2016

Monthly Salary*: 2771.01? + 600? Mobility allowance + 500? Family allowance

ESR15. Preparation, characterisation and encapsulation of OLEDs processed using OVPD

The PhD student will explore covering techniques required for OLED production including different device characterisation techniques. To develop encapsulation techniques for protection. To utilise the advantages of the OVPD process to improve the exciplex layer and OLED e.g. cross-fading.

Requirements: M.Sc. in Chemical or Physical Sciences or equivalent graduation. Proof of English proficiency as communication and teaching language throughout EXCILIGHT is English (e.g. TOEFL or similar test, not for native speakers).

PhD Studies will be held on RWTH Aachen University

Start date (planned): 1 March 2016

Official Requirements

Applicants for the PhD positions must not yet been awarded a PhD degree and must be in the first 4 years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers prior to the recruitment.

All applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the organization they are applying to for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the recruitment.

Positions include interdisciplinary training, summer schools and yearly international meetings.
