| The comparison and discussion of multiphoton microscopic images of in situ collagen and elastin from human skin dermis and the purified collagen and elastin extracted from human skin dermis have further explained the observation. Although in situ collagen was imaged solely via its SHG signal, collagen in purified samples can produce SHG and TPEF signals simultaneously. These were due to completely different space arrangements of collagen in puri®ed samples and excised human skin section. In purified samples, collagen shows the morphology of ropes, whereas in situ collagen shows a mesh-like aggregated morphology. |
