Faculty Positions Announcement for Young 1000 Talents

We are seeking outstanding candidates for the ?°Young 1000 Talents Global Recruitment Program?± sponsored by the Central Government of China. The successful candidates will be working as core members in Prof. Junguo Liu??s team at the South University of Science and Technology of China (SUSTC).

Applicants should meet the following criteria:
(1) a Ph.D. degree awarded in hydrology and water resources, environmental science, ecology, remote sensing or relevant fields;
(2) three years or more of post-doctoral research or work experience
(3) a proven track record of high-quality scientific publications
(4) excellent communications skills and capable of teaching classes in English
(5) not older than 40 years old
SUSTC offers a generous salary and startup package, including:
(1) Starting salaries from 350,000 to 600,000 RMB (about 55,000-100,000 US$) at different ranks;
(2) A living subsidy of up to 1.75 million RMB (about 270,000 US$) over 3-5 years;
(3) A start-up fund of up to 9.5 million RMB (about 1.5 million US$);
(4) Two fully paid research assistants;
(5) Housing accommodation in an on-campus apartment of 100-150 m2.

Dr. Junguo Liu is a professor at SUSTC. His main research interests include hydrology and water resources, ecosystem services and management, coupled ecological and social systems, and water-food-energy nexus. Prof. Liu is author of over 70 peer-reviewed papers, including articles in Science, Nature and PNAS. His articles have been cited for over 1200 times. He serves as an editor-in-chief of the Journal of Water and Climate Change. He is one of seven target leaders of the Decade Program 2013-2022 of the International Association of Hydrologic Sciences (IAHS). He is also the president of the Society for Ecological Restoration in Beijing. He has research experience in China, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, the U.K., and the U.S., among others. More information about Prof. Junguo Liu please refer to
