All the chemicals were obtained from Sigma-Aldrich and used as received. In a standard synthesis of Cu nanowires, 21 mg CuCl2·2H2O, 180 mg HDA, and 50 mg glucose (α or form) were dissolved in 10 mL water in a 22.2-mL vial (borosilicate glass vial, with a black phenolic molded screw cap and polyvinyl-faced pulp liner, VWR International, Radnor, PA) at room temperature. After the vial had been capped, the solution was magnetically stirred at room temperature overnight.
