The flow of the viscoelastic macromolecule melt in the gas-assisted extrusion meatus was investigated by using POLYFLOW software. The simulation results show that the relation of the ratio of the average time that macromolecule melt settled in the slippage stage to material¡¯s relaxation time (t / s) with the ratio(B) of the extrusive inflation  decayed exponentially .
The mechanism analysis of the  gas-assisted process  shows that the flow  of the macromolecule melt in the slippage stage is a  stress relaxation process  in essence, the deformation value of which can be described by creep equations. Furthermore, by the moulding experiment of gas-assisted extrusion, the experimental HDPE¡¯s diameter agree well with the calculated value in the three screw rotate speed and the three kinds of extrusion temperature. The high degree of consistency among the numerical simulation, the analysis of mechanism and experimental verification, shows that the proposed equation is reseable and relible to guide the design of gas-assisted meatus.

The study of the flow for the viscoelastic macromolecule melt in the gas-assisted extrusion meatus through POLYFLOW software shows that there is a kind of exponential decay relationship between the ratio of the average time that macromolecule melt settled in the slippage section and material¡¯s relaxation time (t / s) and the ratio(B) of the extrusive inflation.
The analysis of the mechanism for the process of gas-assisted shows that the flow  of the macromolecule melt in the slippage section is the process of the stress relaxation in essence, the deformation value of which can be described with creep equation. Finally, through the test of gas-assisted extrusion moulding, the HDPE¡¯s diameter of the experimental data with the calculated value achieved a good match in the three screw rotate speed and the three kinds of extrusion temperature. The numerical simulation, the analysis of mechanism and experimental verification reach a high degree of consistency, which shows the equation is reasonably good and can be used to guide the design of gas-assisted meatus.
