In a typical preparation,2g of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS, Merck) was dissolved in 40 mL of DI water. Twenty milliliters of GO dispersion of concentration 5 mg/mL was added into the above solution. The mixture was sonicated for about 20 min. Then, 1.74 g of nickel nitrate hexahydrate (Ni(NO3)2¡¤6H2O, Alfa Aesar) dissolved in 20 mL of DI water was added dropwise under vigorous stirring. The resulting mixture was diluted with DI water to have a total volume of 120 mL and heated to 90 ¡ãC under stirring. After 16 h, the mixture was evaporated and dried in air with a Petri dish at 60 ¡ãC for 24 h to obtain Ni-loaded GO platelets.
