It can be seen from the grinding mouth SEM photos that the friction surface of the spray formed high silicon aluminium alloys consists of the smooth bearing surface and furrows. The furrow distribution is uniform and shallower, simultaneously, on the material surface, a small amount of pits are left because the tiny Primary silicon falls. These tiny shedding particles have a very small effect on alloy wear, play a role of solid lubrication, and reduce the friction coefficient of alloy, thus, wear of high silicon aluminum alloy belongs to abrasive wear. The SEM photo of cast iron wear morphology is as shown in figure 2. Seen from the scanning of the grinding mouth of the cast iron, massive cracks exist in the friction surface because of the obvious plastic deformation and tearing effect on alloy during the process of friction. On the friction surface, there are uneven distribution and deep furrows, as well as larger pits which areleft due to adhesion and shown in figure. Therefore, the wear failure modes of cast iron mainly inculde: sliding wear, abraisive wear and adhesive wear.
