1 Synthesis, (7), 1195-1199; 2006 CASREACT Abstract Deactivated arenes were mono- or diiodinated with strong electrophilic I+ reagents, which were prepd. from NaIO4 and either I2 or KI in concd. H2SO4 (?5 wt%). In general a small excess (1.1/1.5 equiv) of the dark brown iodinating soln. was used (for nitrobenzene 2 equiv. were required).
