An obliquity period of 32.5 kyr is required to align power at precession-scale frequencies for the early Triassic OP model. We found that tuning the obliquity band of the early Triassic OP model to modern 41 kyr caused the precession index terms to become irretrievably misaligned, i.e., subsequent long-precession tuning (to modern 23 kyr) and repeat obliquity tuning cannot successfully align the precession index terms (Fig. S6). Thus the success of the predicted Middle Permian 32-kyr obliquity tuning in aligning power in the predicted Middle Permian precession band (in the UCMM data) is indirect evidence for Milankovitch cycles with Permian periodicities. The strong ~400 kyr amplitude modulation in the tuned long precession band provides additional e vidence, i.e., theoretical long precession consists of two major terms intercting with a 400-kyr modulation . |
