Compacted bentonite has been chosen as the backfill material a high level nuclear waste repository (HLW). It has large sorption capability, low permeability and good sealing effect by swelling [1]. Diffusion processes of radionuclides in compacted bentonite are a good way to simulate radionuclide transport from the spent fuel to the environment around the repository in order to understand radionuclides interaction with bentonite. 79Se and 99Tc have received more attention because they are identified to be among the largest contributors to the performance associated with HLW. Previous researches have been carried out a lot of Se and Tc diffusion experiments [2, 3]. Research found that apparent diffusion coefficient Da values for HSe- are one order of magnitude smaller than those for SeO32- [4]. Capillary method study 99TcO4- diffusion in compacted bentonite from Gaomiaozi County found that Kd values from capillary teats are lower than those from batch tests and Kd is a strong function of dry density of the compacted bentonite [3].
