Recrystallization and Related Annealing Phenomena, Second Edition (Pergamon Materials Series) By F J Humphreys, M. Hatherly Publisher: Pergamon Number Of Pages: 658 Publication Date: 2004-02-02 ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0080441645 ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780080441641 Binding: Hardcover Related Annealing Phenomena fulfils the information needs of materials scientists in both industry and academia. The subjects treated in the book are all active research areas, forming a major part of at least four regular international conference series. This new 2nd edition ensures the reader has access to the latest findings, essential to those working at the forefront of research in universities and laboratories. For those in industry, the book highlights applications of the research and technologically important examples. In particular, the 2nd edition builds on the significant progress made recently in the following key areas: Deformed state, including deformation to very large strains Characterisation of microstructures by electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) Modelling and simulation of annealing. Continuous recrystallization. * Fully revised and up-to-date, the 2nd edition highlights the significant progress made recently in this important area of research * Detailed coverage, much more comprehensive treatment than is found in textbooks on physical metallurgy bridges the gap between theory and practice by examining the application of quantitative, physically based models to metal forming processes Summary: The most current information Rating: 5 Humphreys and Hatherly did a super job here of compiling the latest information from an incredible number of resources. Good definitions for annealing phenomena and nice explanations of the mechanisms taking place. Good figures and images. I used this resource to help understand dynamic recovery and recrystallization in 304 stainless steel. Summary: Recrystallization and Related Annealing Phenomena Rating: 5 A great book detailing recrystallization and annealing phenomena. It starts from the beginning explaining phenomena clearly then works up into detail. you don't have to be a Dr of metallurgy to understand it Summary: Best in the market Rating: 4 This book provides the reader with a very good, updated and, for most of the topics covered, an in-depth discussion of all subjects associated with work hardening, recovery and recrystallization. Most of the physical metallurgy aspects of metal's deformation and related annealing processes are well presented, including good chapters on textures, hot working and modelling. The authors are well known experts in the field of physical metallurgy and have done a very good job. This is the best book on recrystallization available today, for both undergraduate and graduate levels. Summary: Covers it all Rating: 4 My professor called this more a "research compendium" than a "text." Fair enough -- but it works well enough as a text. The book covers basically all the different aspect of annealing metals: The cold worked state, recovery, recrystallization, grain growth. The covery of the cold worked state is brief, but good. It emphasizes how stacking fault energy dominates the dislocation structure, which dominates the other processes, plus other factors (ie, strain TYPE). The covery of recovery is fine, and it handles the static recrystallization of single phase, multiphase and ordered materials, as well as dynamic RX. Then, it hits grain growth. The nice thing about this book it that it also covers texture effects, both in terms of cold-working and annealing, as well as methods of texture measurement and representation (pole figures, invers PF's, ODF's). Short answer: this book covers everything. Summary: Mysteries of materials Science. Rating: 1 Recrystallization is a phenomenon well known for a long time, but it is only know we can visualize and feel the effects of its importance more clearly with different models and latest development in Technology, as the development of new alloys. http://rapidshare.com/files/141554269/0080441645.rar [ Last edited by xucz on 2009-5-7 at 21:09 ] |
