去罗宾汉的家乡工作:研究免疫学和生物材料

单位:School of Life Sciences, University of Nottingham 项目简介: Advanced biomaterials are essential components in targeting drugs to treat infectious diseases and cancers, in realising the potential of regenerative medicine and in creating the medical devices of the future. This substantial project investment recognises the major healthcare challenges faced by society and the role that new biomaterials must play in tackling them, suchas tacking antimicrobial resistance. We are searching for a number of highly motivated research scientists in a 5 year award. This will be an exciting and well-resourced project which aims to redefine biomaterials discovery in a radical and flexible programme of work. It is an excellent career development opportunity, including resource for researchers to develop ideas supported by high quality mentoring and exchange visits with leading international collaborators including MIT, CSIRO, University of Maastricht and University of Southern Denmark. Cell phenotype and functional properties will be determined to develop advanced medical devices that resist infection and instruct in vivo immune response. Immune response to materials will be probed using human macrophages on combinatorial material libraries of chemistry and topography. The successful candidate will have proven expertise in working with antigen presenting cells (particularly macrophages) and performing detailed function assays in 2D and 3D using microscopy, molecular biology and biochemical readouts. One of the main research themes within the group is immune modulation through surface engineering and the post holder will be supported by group members working on synergistic projects.
