请问 mean value ≡ mean ≡ mathematical expectation 吗？ 已有2人参与

请问 mean value ≡ mean ≡ mathematical expectation 吗？ 概率论与数理统计学里，英文 mean value 、 mean 、 mathematical expectation 完全可以互换吗？ 或者说，这3个词，在含义上是否完全等价？就是常和方差 variance 一起出现的“均值/数学期望”。 即 mean value ≡ mean ≡ mathematical expectation ？ 此外，average value 是什么意思？ 我们的论文里同时出现“均值mean”和“平均误差mean error”，审稿专家要我们解决这个confusing。具体该怎么处理？ 平均误差mean error，通常关联均方根（root mean square）。 参考链接： [1] Mathematical expectation - Encyclopedia of Mathematics http://www.encyclopediaofmath.or ... matical_expectation |

Mathematical expectation is used in probability. Mean value is used in statistics. The weight of the expectation is probability but mean value uses frequency or percentage as weight. They are different in theory and are not exchangeable. [ 发自手机版 http://muchong.com/3g ] |

In probability and statistics, mean and expected value are used synonymously to refer to one measure of the central tendency either of a probability distribution or of the random variable characterized by that distribution. --Wikipedia The expected value is also known as the expectation, mathematical expectation, EV, mean, or first moment. --Wikipedia 所以mean, mathematical expectation, expected value等是可以互换的，但在同一篇论文中应该统一。而且我们控制科学在论文中“mean”用的比较普遍。 我们一般不说“mean value”表示均值，因为有 mean value theorem（中值定理/中间值定理/平均值定理）。 In mathematics and statistics, average would be called the arithmetic mean. -- Wikipedia “average”只是arithmetic mean，与mean有不同. “mean error”用法也许应该要注意。有mean square error，有mean absolute error，但mean error我是找不到相关概念。误差的平均？直接把误差不经过处理平均我觉得是“不科学”的。 |
